AT&T Inc. will start limiting the internet download service up to 20 gigabytes per month for users. The country’s largest Internet service provider AT&T Inc. is trying the idea of limiting the amount of data that subscriber use each month. Such limits in the amount of data users can upload and download each month, as a way to curb small number of “bandwidth hogs” who use a lot of network capacity. The limit will increase with the speed of the plan up to 150 gigabytes per month at the 10 megabits per second level. According to AT&T Inc. the limits will apply to new customers in the Reno area and the current users will be enrolled if they exceed 150 gigabytes in a month Two other ISP, Time Warner Cable Inc. and Fair Point Communication Inc. are also planning for traffic limits as low as 5 gigabytes per month. Customers will be able to track their usage on an AT&T web site and the company will also contact people who reach 80% of their limit and whoever exceeds their limit they will pay $1 per gigabyte.
The internet accessibility given to the users is very utilizable hence; the ones who use it in a huge amount should be willing to pay extra for the facility. $1 per gigabyte is not a large amount and people who use internet to such extent must be able to afford it. Also in a business perspective, it would be profitable to the companies to be able to charge these users

I believe I heard something about that months ago, but didn't think it'd actually happen. Considering the amount they charge per month, a more reasonable amount would be a $1 per gigabyte... As long they don't over charge per gigabyte, it should suffice.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what you mean? I have teenagers that stay on the internet a lot. Facebook, aol instant messaging, etc. We had bellsouth as internet, so how is that going to affect us? Gosh, I already think the high speed internet cost is highway robbery. With this economy? Don't be surprised if this doesn't back fire and make customers leave.
ReplyDeleteIt's just another way for AT&T to gouge the customer. I already pay these people too much money. I need to drop the landline--they just raised my cellphone fees.
